Project Details

This was one of the more interesting houses we have worked on.

Our clients had just recently bought this house. It was a beautiful mews house which we believe was designed by its original owner who was an engineer. There were some very interesting features and proportions that our clients were keen to retain. Examples are the conservatory glazing, the fine spiral stairs and railings and painted brick internally.

Although the house was interesting and well designed it was also old and uncomfortable because the building fabric was old and lacked insulation. Many of the fittings and finishes were original and dated too. Our brief was to modernise this house for comfort and to update the aesthetic while retaining the nicer aspects of the original design.

The finished house is the best of both worlds. It is a contemporary version of its old self; the charming features of the original design sit very well with the contemporary fittings and finishes that have been added. The house is now energy efficient and comfortable too.
